Reading Workshop
Have you ever read to the bottom of a page and had no idea of what you just read? Can you read a book and think about something else while you read? Me too! I imagine that if I do this an adult reader than younger readers are probably doing it as well.
Our minds wander, it's the way our brains are wired and it simply means that we are human. However, we must train ourselves to recognize when this happens, and we will spend time this year learning how to do this. It's called "Thinking about your Thinking" and a fancier word for this is being "Meta-cognitive."
Once we begin to recognize when our minds wander while we read we will then "do" something about it and this is called "active reading."
